May 20, 2009 Term paper 3 scores have been posted to GRIT. Your grades have been submitted to the registrar, and will be available within 24 hours. Have a great summer.
May 18, 2009 Iteration 3 scores have also been posted to GRIT. Please check your ProjectMayhem/tags/Iteration3/Grading.txt file for the points breakdown.
May 18, 2009 Final exam scores have been posted to GRIT.
May 16, 2009 Iteration 1 and 2 regrade and remediation scores have been posted to GRIT, and a revised Grading.txt file should have been checked into your ProjectMayhem/tags/IterationX directory.

May 2, 2009 The final exam is 1:30pm - 3:30pm on Tuesday, May 12 in our regular class room - Fraser 102.
Apr. 30, 2009 The final version of the term paper is due by 2pm on Thursday, May 14. Papers turned after that time will not be accepted.

A small amount of extra credit will be awarded to those who turn in the final version of the term paper before the final exam on May 12.

Apr. 30, 2009 Lab tomorrow will be dedicated to the final term paper and to answering any lingering questions about Project Mayhem iterations. James will be there to lead a discussion on the papers and how they were graded and how to read his comments.

Bryan will also be there answer any questions about C++ or the project. He will not lead a discussion but will be available to discuss questions that you may have.

Apr. 23, 2009 James, will be out of town on Monday, April 27th. His office hours for that day are cancelled. Please email him if you would like to schedule an appointment with him later that week.
Apr. 21, 2009 The code from quiz 3 is available here and on the code examples web page. The type-incorrect statements are commented out and you can uncomment to see why the have problems.
Apr. 21, 2009 I've added office hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. My office hours are now 11:15am to 12:15pm on Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00am to 10:00am on Wednesday, and 10:00am to 11:00am on Monday and Friday. -- Eric
Apr. 21, 2009 To give you more time on iteration 3 and the paper, quiz 4 is cancelled. The first 3 quizzes will now be worth an addition 1% and the final will be worth an additional 2%.
Apr. 21, 2009 Iteration 3 is now available on the project web pabe.
Apr. 16, 2009 Lab of Friday will focus on challenges with Makefiles and XML that people have faced. If you have no problems with your Makefiles or XML processing code, then you do not need to attend lab of Friday. If, however, you still have problems then attending lab will help you to sort these out so that you are prepared to move forward with iteration 3.
Apr. 15, 2009 Based on the discussion in lecture on Tuesday, the late penalty for Iteration 2 will be set at 3% per day, instead of 10% per day. You should make an effort to get the main components of Iteration 2 working and not be too concerned with it being late. Do email Bryan and Eric to tell us how many days your project is late so that we know when to check it out of Subversion.
Apr. 7, 2009 The due date for Iteration 2 has been pushed back a few days. The project page has the date and some other updates to the specifications.
Apr. 5, 2009 Some sample tests and other files to support your development of Iteration 2 have been posted in the project page.
Apr. 1, 2009 Scores for Lab 2, Lab 3, Lab 5, and the first round of Short Writing Assignment 1 are on GRIT. Please direct any questions about the Lab scores to August, and the Short Writing Assignment to James. Note: There has been a slight mix-up about the maximum possible scores on the three labs. The correct maximum scores are, respectively, 60, 102 and 100.
Mar. 31, 2009 If you would like to improve your score on the first writing assignment, you have the option to re-write it using the feedback you received on your submission. You have until Tuesday, April 7th to submit the re-write, in hardcopy, to Prof. Van Wyk. Re-writing your assignments is encouraged, but strictly optional. Your final grade for any assignment will be the maximum of your initial submission and the re-write.
Mar. 23, 2009 The third quiz is rescheduled for April 2.

Feb. 23, 2009 For this week only, the writing TA's office hour will be on Thursday (Feb. 26th) from 2.15pm-3.15pm in EE/CSci 2-209, instead of Tuesday.
Feb. 21, 2009 The writing TA office hours are on Tuesday from 2.15pm-3.15pm, or by appointment. The location is EE/CSci 2-209.
Feb. 20, 2009 If you have not received the slip of paper with your SVN username and password that was distributed during Lab, please pick it up from Bryan during office hours. You will need this information in order to do Lab 5, and submit Iteration 1 of the course project.

Feb. 19, 2009 The second quiz is scheduled for March 3.
Feb. 16, 2009 Some test cases have been posted to clarify the expected behavior of the Amount class, and fix an incorrect test in the Date class. You can find a link to these tests from the project page

Jan. 30, 2009 EE/CS building is closed.No lab sessions today. Apparently a cooling pipe on the 7th floor bust and there is significant water damage on the lower floors. The building may be open by Monday - but that has not been determined yet (@ 8:50am).
Jan. 21, 2009 In lab 1 you will need to use your itlabs account, login to make sure that it works. If it does not, this link should help you get it working.

Jan. 20, 2009 We assume that you are proficient in Unix and comfortable using the command line in a terminal.
If not, the student ACM chapter is offering short courses on Unix and it is your responsibility to sign up for one of them.
The course is offered in EE/CSci 2-170, times are listed on their website: http://acm.cs.umn.edu/drupal/event.
Jan. 12, 2009 Update: The class has been moved and will now be meeting in Fraser Hall, room 102. The time (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:45pm - 2:00pm) has not changed.
Jan. 9, 2009 The course is currently full, but if you want to get in you need to get on a waiting list and then attend the first day of class. There are typically a few students that will not show up or will drop early on and thus there will be room for some more people. The limitation we have is on the size of the room in which labs are held.
Jan. 1, 2009 The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:45pm - 2:00pm in the EE/CSci building, room 3-230. Update: - the class has been moved to Fraser Hall - see note above.
Jan. 1, 2009 Discussion/lab sessions meet in EE/CSci 1-260 on Fridays at either 12:20pm-1:10pm or 1:25pm-2:15pm.
Jan. 1, 2009 The final exam is 1:30pm - 3:30pm on Tuesday, May 12.
