For those of you that want are thinking ahead to the Rails app assignment for the 11th of April, here's what I'm looking for:

  • Create a simple Rails app - following along with Depot is fine though you might want to do something a little closer to your own domain or area of interest.
  • Keep in mind some things have changed in Rails since AWR was published - if you have questions or run into problems shout!
  • On the 11th we'll spend some time talking about Rails in general (along with other topics) so be prepared to discuss your experience building a sample app.
  • Before class on the 11th, email me a paragraph or two about what you think of Rails, your application, etc. You don't have to put anything into Word, a simple email is sufficient. Questions to think about: what do you like about Rails? What don't you like about Rails? Where might Rails fit in your organization?

Thanks - and if you have any questions or concerns you know where to find me.

Next week's speaker, Neal Ford, is presenting at TC JUG next Wednesday, the 13th. He'll be talking about building DSLs, a topic we'll be overing in a couple of weeks. If you've got time, you should check it out. http://intertech.com/UserGroups/JUGPresentation.aspx?TopicID=121
