Class Announcements 

  • 2008/5/7 The final examination will cover topics from chapters 1,2,3,4,5 and 8, excluding §3.6.3, §5.8, §8.8.

  • 2008/4/23 The combined 9th and 10th homework assignment is posted.

  • 2008/4/15 The eight homework assignment is posted.

  • 2008/4/3 The sixth and seventh homework assignments are posted.

  • 2008/3/14 The fifth homework assignment is posted.

  • 2008/2/27 The fourth homework assignment is posted.

  • 2008/2/27 The third homework assignment is optional: you may improve either or both of the first two assignments (the simple client and server) and resubmit for a revised grade prior to the due date on the assignment calendar. [The extra points unassigned because of this policy will be allocated to the last five assignments equally.]

  • 2008/2/19 The second homework assignment is posted.

  • 2008/2/11 Note that all due dates for electronic submission have been extended to include the weekend, following almost univeral approval of this notion in class.

  • 2008/2/5 The first assignment is posted. The first homework assignment is posted. The code samples from class are here: Socket1.java, Socket2.java, Socket3.java, TCPCLient.py, TCPServer.py, tserver.py You may want to use a server based upon code here so as to test your client. The forum from the fall class where the assignments were first used may be useful to you as a pseudo-FAQ document; the username and password to read this will be emailed to your university email address; please read this before posting questions on the forum this semester; note that the assignments may be modified this semester.

  • 2008/1/29 Please check the times of the midterm and final examinations on the assignment calendar and verify that you will be able to attend.

  • 2008/1/24 Please read the syllabus carefully.
