Here's the schedule for the last three weeks - if you need to switch, work it out with whomever you're trading with and let me know. If you are covering the same (or similar) topic as another, please work together to minimize overlap.

You're free to use your own laptop or mine, just let me know before hand so I can have things setup for you. As I've mentioned before, screen casts are great if you'd prefer to do that.

Everyone in Dynamic Language camp - I suspect the weather will be pretty crappy tomorrow and I urge you to use your best judgement regarding traveling. I just touched base with my speaker and between the weather, his cold, and the fact that the turbulent market has caused no end of headaches for him (he's the CTO of Dow Jones...) he's asked to reschedule. I apologize for the late notice but if class isn't cancelled tomorrow, it'll be a work day for the Rails app or whatever you guys feel like getting done. I know we haven't covered the nuts and bolts of Rails but between your classmates and online resources you might be able to piece something together.

Regarding the application - I want you to write a simple Rails app, basically what they run you through in Rolling With Ruby on Rails. I'm going to ask that you do a short (few paragraphs) write up on your experience with Rails - what you liked, what you didn't like, etc. If I get really motivated, I'll actually send out some reading material for next week... Be good and be safe!

I ran into this talk last week sometime and I highly recommend it. Despite finding it on Google Video, it's basically a podcast - I don't recall there being anything visual other than getting to see Chad. Anyway, we talked a bit about this topic last week...

Should have mentioned this in class, alas I forgot. We'll be talking
about JRuby (and I'm trying to get Charlie to speak in class) but
this event is still worth attending. I assume there is still space
but I could be wrong...
