04/23/2007 Clarification: The due date for the final design brief for assignment#4 is Friday, May 4th.
04/18/2007 The schedule for presentations of your design briefs is now available here.
03/26/07 Grades for the midterm have been posted in GRIT. Please email your TA if you have any questions/concerns.
03/16/07 Grades for Assignment#2 have been posted in GRIT. A breakup for the score as well as comments have been emailed to you. Please email your TA if you have any questions/concerns.
03/05/07 Please note the two milestones due on the 5th and 9th this week for Assignment#3
03/05/07 Grades for Assignment#1 and Reading1-01/22/07, Reading5-02/05/07, Reading7-02/12/07, Reading8-02/14/07, Reading9-02/19/07, Reading11-02/28/07 and Reading12-03/05/07 have been posted in GRIT. If you have turned in work for any of these and do not see a grade in GRIT, please email your TA.

  1. Write one question or comment focused on the paper.
  2. Go use a tagging system, e.g., movielens, flickr, del.icio.us, and write one question or comment based on your use. The two questions/comments may relate but don't have to.
02/13/07 A reminder of important milestones for Assignment#2:
  • February 14th you should e-mail cs5125@cs.umn.edu a brief note identifying the user group and social interaction for which you are developing the solution
  • February 21st you should e-mail cs5125@cs.umn.edu a brief note identifying the mid-level tool you have selected and outlining why you have chosen it

02/10/07 Assignments can be handed in by midnight on their due dates. So Assignment#1 will be due before midnight on Monday the 12th of February.

  1. Next Monday: Single Display Groupware, Collaborative Hardware, Public Displays
    Reading response question: Suggest two different applications that would benefit from the DiamondTouch tabletop display
  2. Next Wednesday: Shared Documents, Source Code Control, Listservs
    Reading response question: How do the ideas of “adversarial collaboration” apply to other tools such as mailing lists, source code control systems, etc.?
01/21/07 For Wednesday's reading reaction, do the following two things:
  1. Identify a groupware challenge that you read about but didn't know or had never thought about before. Why is this interesting?(a couple of sentences is sufficient)
  2. Identify one feature of GroupKit that you believe will be particularly useful. This feature can be a widget, a process, a policy, or anything else provided by the toolkit to support CSCW applications.
