CSCI 5105 Announcements
5/12/07: The final (letter) grades have been submitted to the registrar. They should be available online in 24 hrs.
5/11/07: The grades for the
finals have been put up on Grit.
5/7/07: The final
exam (Due: 4pm, Tue May 8)
has been posted. The graded finals will be handed back on Thu, May 10,
between 2-3pm in the instructor's office (CS/EE 4-209).
5/3/07: REMINDER: The final exam will be
take-home. It will be released at 4pm on Mon May 7, and will be due at
4pm on Tue May 8. The exam will be released online. The on-campus
students must submit their exams in hard copy to the CSE office
front-desk by the due time. The off-campus UNITE students can either
send their exams via UNITE office with the correct timestamp, or else,
email it to the instructor by the due time.
5/3/07: The Programming
Assignment 3 grades are now available on GRIT. Everyone MUST check
GRIT to make sure we have graded all of your submissions for all
assignments and that the scores are correct. If you have any
grading issues, please contact Mike by email; Mike is also available by
appointment.
4/24/07: The final exam will be
take-home. It will be a 24-hour exam released on Mon, May 7, and will
be due on Tue, May 8.
4/22/07: ProgA2 and HW3 grades are now available on GRIT. GRIT
now reflects the latest scores that we have, so if there are any
discrepancies, you must let Abhishek+Mike know immediately - this is
your responsibility.
4/19/07: A Sample Solution for Homework 3 has been
posted.
4/10/07: Since so few people have shown up so far this semester,
Mike's office hours have changed to 9:30-10:30am Wednesdays.
Hopefully this will help some of you who have 10'oclock classes. For
tomorrow, if anyone was planning on attending between 10:30-11:00,
please email Mike ASAP.
4/9/07: Programming Assignment 3
(due 4/25/07 11:59pm) has been posted.
4/3/07: Homework
3 (due Tues 4/10 in class) has been posted.
3/28/07: A sample solution for the Mid-term
Exam has been put up.
3/23/07: GRIT was updated this
morning. Please email Mike with any questions or if anything appears to
be incorrect.
3/23/07: The due date for Programming Assignment 2 has
been extended until Monday, April 2nd, 11:59pm!
3/20/07: Please note: If you attempted the Extra Credit for
Programming Assignment 1, please email Mike (cardosa =AT= cs DOT umn
DOT edu) as soon as possible to describe how he can view your extra
credit.
Similarly, if you attempt the Extra Credit in Programming Assignment 2,
please include that at the top of the README file you submit. As
another note for Programming Assignment 2, you aren't required to use
RPC for everything; you could use a simple TCP socket for file transfer
if you want.
3/8/07: Programming Assignment 2
(due 3/30/07 11:59pm) has been posted.
3/4/07: A HW2 sample solution has
been posted.
3/1/07: All lectures until Tue (2/27/07) are available on UNITE
website for viewing (for both on-campus and off-campus students).
3/1/07: The University is
being closed today, so all classes are cancelled.
3/1/07: Due to
the bad road conditions today, the
deadline for HW2 has been extended till Fri 3/2/07 3pm. You can
drop in your HW2 in a box outside the instructor's office (CS/EE
4-209). For off-campus students, their assignments need to be
timestamped by the due date/time.
Addendum: If you haven't already submitted your hardcopy, you can
email it to Mike or Abhishek by 3pm Fri instead of physically handing
it in. (This applies to both on-campus and off-campus students.)
Those who have already submitted the homework can also submit a
modified version by 3 pm Fri if they want.
2/22/07: Homework
2 (due Thurs March 1st in class) has been posted.
2/14/07: A Sample Solution for HW1 has been posted.
2/13/07: We received an email
with some really good questions regarding Programming Assignment 1, so
we have posted that dicussion as a clarification
to Programming Assignment 1.
2/6/07: Programming Assignment
1 has been posted (due Wed 2/21/07 11:59pm)!
2/6/07: Due to
the bad road conditions today, if you are unable to make it to the
lecture today, you can drop in your HW1 tomorrow (Wed 2/7/07) as well
in a box outside the instructor's office (CS/EE 4-209). Note that this
is only a one-time exception, and future written HWs will be due in
class as usual.
2/6/07: A Resources link has been added to the left. This will
contain additional reading material as well as documentation and
tutorials that will supplement the lectures and the textbook.
2/1/07:
From the RPC demo today, myfunc.x is now
available.
1/30/07:
Homework 1 has been posted on the Assignments link on the left. Future
homeworks and
programming assignments will be posted there.
1/30/07:
This week, Mike's office hours will be Wednesday from 9:30-10:30am.
This also has been updated on the Google calendar.
1/23/07:
We have added a Google
Calendar subscription link for the course! This includes important
events such as class times, office hours, exam dates and assignment
event dates. This will be frequenty updated as we announce Homework and
Programming Assignment release/due dates. Give it a try and send Mike
your feedback on how much you like this calendar tool.
1/22/07:
This week, Mike's office hours will be by appointment only, and will
begin Wed 10-11am next week.
1/18/07: A
tentative schedule for the course has been added to the left. Links to
lecture notes will be available from the Schedule page. The notes for
the first two lectures have been added.
A Class forum has also been created - this can be used for posting
questions/comments and for online discussions.
1/17/07: A course
work link has been added to the left of the page. Please refer to it
for the course mechanics and grading policy.
