The due date for the project Phase 3 is moved to Thursday, 11 December, due to itlabs performance problems. Because this will make it difficult to get all the grading done on time, you are encouraged to submit earlier if you are ready.
2008.12.07
We have released the functional tests we will use to test your project phase 3. It is linked in the outline, and here: Project phase 3 functional tests. Please see the README in the package for instructions on how to test your program. We will essentially be running the included scripts in order to test your functionality when grading!
2008.11.30
The final version of the feedback sheet is available here

2008.11.26

2008.11.23

2008.11.19
We will have two optional review sessions to help you finish your research paper. In these sessions, will we go over what makes a good research paper and improvements you can make to your drafts.
Both sessions will cover the same material so you need to attend only one of the two.
Session 1: Friday, Nov 21st from 9-10am in Rapson Hall 54
Session 1: Monday, Nov 24th from 9-10am in Rapson Hall 54
2008.11.14
The third short writing assignment, which was due on 11/18, is canceled. It was worth 4% of your grade, so we'll just eliminate it by dividing your final score by 0.96.
2008.11.7
The requirement to detect and report on cycles in Project Phase 2 is deferred to Phase 3. If you have already done the work, you will still get credit for it, just not until Phase 3. If not, you don't have to worry about it right away.
2008.10.28
The due date for the first draft of the research paper is changed from Tuesday 4 November to Thursday 6 November to give you time to see your bibliographies, which will be returned on 4 November.
2008.10.28
The format of the output for Phase 2 has been changed as suggested in class today. The change is confined to the format examples sample 1 and sample 2.
2008.10.28
The due date for Lab 8 is moved from Thursday 30 October to Tuesday 4 November, due to the problems with the log4cxx libraries last Friday.
2008.10.27
I will be holding an optional extra lab session in EE/CS 1-260 on Tuesday night, 7:15-8:15. The lab is scheduled to be free, but if for some reason it isn't I will be upstairs on the 4th floor in the public lab (4-250 I think).

This session will be unique in that you will be able to gain back most of the points you lost in lab 7 (trac lab) by showing up and working on trac. Once you show me your newly created tickets, you can gain back 80% of the points you lost. Therefore, if you got 50 on lab 7, you will be able to gain 40 points, and receive a 90 on lab 7. You need not come with your partner, but only those who show up will get the points. Think of this session as an incentive to help you towards a successful phase 2 project.

If you don't want/need points for lab 7, you can also use this time to become more familiar with SVN, or just come and work on the project.

2008.10.8
The first phase of the project is now due at the end of the day on 10/10, rather than 10/9. We expect to have the problems with the Boost library resolved by the beginning of the day on 10/9, and you will now have an extra day, including office hours and lab sessions, to finish up.
2008.10.3
A sample quiz is posted in the course outline. It is from an earlier offering of this course, and the topics covered were slightly different. It was also a bit too long and/or challenging for a 30-minute quiz, so the quiz on 10/7 will probably be shorter.
